:: Yellow 70's Vibes ::

::sweater/nordstrom, denim/express (on sale!!)::

One of my favorite trends from 2017 has to be lace up sweaters! There is a subtle sex appeal to them but they are still so easy to wear for any occasion! I thought I would pull together some of the best options out there for you just in case you wanted to try or are already loving it like me!

Lace Up Sweater Shop Guide

Looking forward to Spring 2018 trends, I see a lot of 90's nostalgia coming our way in the form of plastic (think windbreakers) and slip dresses in ditzy prints over tee shirts with bulky combat boots. I lived thru the 90's so I am cautious to dive back into any of the upcoming trends but we'll see what strikes my fancy once the time comes! Here are a few other prediction of what trends will blow up in the next season

Bright, saturated colors- monochromatic and/or color block looks will dominate this one.

Fringe- from accessories to shredded tees, it will take the place of overly distressed garments

Sheer & transparent- sheer clothing and transparent accessories will be an interesting element added

Lavender- with the Pantone color of the year being purple (Ultra Violet), Spring will ease into this year's COY

Fanny packs- with the 90's revival it only makes sense this would be the IT accessory

Shrunken, sportier sunnies- oversized shades of dominated for the last decade or so, but SP18 will see razor edges and mirrored lenses.

What are your SP18 trend predictions?

:: Recent Purchases ::

Hey there! Remember that time I said I was on a spending freeze? Yea- me either! I picked up a few pieces to add for Fall and a trip to Boston we're taking next week and I thought I would share!

I love a long sleeve, flutter dress for Fall! I thought I could pair these dress with booties, tights and heels, or a leather jacket and over the knee boots! Who doesn't love a little leopard in the Fall (or any time of year for that matter)?

Now I know, you've seen this pullover all over your Insta feed! GUILTY! But it's so comfortable! It's sold out in almost every size/color so get yours if you can! I wanted an easy pullover for Boston because it's supposed to be in the mid to high 60's while we're there and I am so glad I picked this one up! I got a small and it fits like a glove!

Never in my wildest 31 year old dreams did I think I'd ever buy another pair of Abercrombie jeans in my life but they were having a sale when I bought my pullover so I decided to give them a try. I really like them! I bought a 6 based on their now more realistic measurements (I vary between 4 and 6 in most retailers) and they fit great! Almost a little big!! I would say if you've written off this brand because of their previous, unrealistic sizing give them another try because these jeans are great!

Another great find for Boston! Last year at the end of Fall I got rid of my lightweight jacket because it was cream and filthy! I was perusing Target last Saturday and came across this quilted jacket and thought it was a great weight and color for our trip! I bought it in a Large so it could fit easily over sweaters! I also grabbed this sweater while I was at it because why not?

What are you recent purchases??? PLEASE SHARE LOL

:: Drinking More Water ::

::image via pinterest::

People use mason jars for all sorts of useful things such as rustic candle holders, salad jars (although this one I don't understand because you just have to dump it all out into a bowl anyway?), food storage but I've been using a major jar to get more water!!

I recently purchased this mason jar to bring into work because I felt like the my previous water tumbler didn't encourage me to drink enough water. First and foremost, I prefer drinking from a straw at work because I find lifting a tumbler above my head very distracting! Secondly, I needed something bigger so I could consume more water without having to get up from my desk every half hour to refill! This baby is 32oz and has been a game changer! I can get my full days worth of water by drinking 3 of them, and it's been surprisingly easy to do that in the span of a work day.

Another great way I encourage myself to drink more water is by infusing it with lemons, limes, strawberries etc! Pinterest is FULL of recipes to make great infused water with so many options. I find it so odd when people say they hate water because it doesn't taste like anything but I get how good infused water can be!

Also- I've put myself on a buying freeze so I figured I'd show y'all some fun stuff to buy in case you're still looking for some great options for the chillier temps. Today it is an amazing 60 degrees out so we're getting a quick glance at sweater weather :)

Is there anything you're still shopping for in this new season??

OH P.S. My birthday is Friday!

:: Summer Transition- Sleeveless Sweater ::

::sweater/target, denim/nordstrom, sandals/zara, bag/red dress boutique, sunnies/similar, lips/stila::

I am in the mood to de-clutter!! I went thru my jewelry and got rid of so much costume jewelry that I never wear but have been holding onto for just the right occasion that let's be honest will never come around. I am planning on doing a full post of what I got rid of, new jewelry storage, and how to build a solid jewelry collection that is both meaningful and always on point.

Is it just me or does anyone else Spring clean before Fall? Without fail I de-clutter the second a chilly gust of wind whips thru our area. A couple days ago it was chilly and rainy and it reminded me it's time to clean up & refresh. I got a similar print to this one to update our entry way and picked up this full length mirror for my closet! It's funny how a few new details and getting rid of things you don't use can make everything seem new!

How do you de-clutter?

:: Distressed Bodysuit & Life Update ::

::bodysuit/tobi c/o, earrings, jeans, lips (peony)::

Y'all things have changed around here, I mean I am wearing a bodysuit for crying out loud! But seriously, some really positive changes have happened in my professional life that I am very excited about and I teased a bit on my Mexico recap but didn't get into detail. Well, I got a new job just minutes from my house! I may or may not have mentioned before but my previous employer was an hour away without traffic, but let's be real when in there never NOT traffic? I didn't change career field though, I am still in retail. Call me crazy but to work in retail requires a bit of insanity!

It has been so amazing to be so close to home, have more time added back into my day where I am not required to sit in a car that I've started doing yoga a few times a week! Remember way back when, my New Year's resolution was to get into yoga? I finally found a studio and did it! I am loving it! I am not that girl that walks out of a strenuous work out and feels amazing, so yoga is right up my alley! Plus, I have a really bad back due to mild Scoliosis so being able to stretch out my back after a long day of sitting feels awesome.

Let's talk about this bodysuit for a second. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine at 30, I'd be cool enough to wear a bodysuit but this Tobi option is honestly so great. One of my biggest pet peeves is tucking in a shirt because without fail on that day I have to use the restroom more times than ever before. (TMI maybe but again just being real)  So, that amazing tuck I spent 10 minutes perfecting in the morning is gone within the hour but a bodysuit changes all of that because it's a perfect tuck every time. Not to mention, the fabric of this particular bodysuit is so soft and the distress detail is great for Summer! I also see myself pairing it with chunky sweaters come Fall because I am ALWAYS thinking ahead to Fall.

I have been feeling yellow this Summer for some reason. I was desperately searching for the perfect yellow bag and couldn't find it but that's okay because I found this bag and on major sale and went for it. But these Charming Charlie yellow drop earrings have been a fun way to incorporate yellow into my outfits and they're a much cheaper version of the Baublebar earrings. You know how I have a hard time spending a lot of money on something that I'll only get one season worth of wear out of!

What are y'all still looking to add to your Summer wardrobe rotation?

:: Flannel & Fur ::

::flannel/old navy, faux fur vest/michael kors {old-similar}, jeans/parker smith, bag/rebecca minkoff, sneakers/tretorn, lips/stila in aria, sunnies/toms::

Hey 2017, what's up my name is Carrie and I am so ready to get to know you! I have a lot of plans for us so get ready!

Let's just be honest here, this outfit is a classic! The weather here is always so weird because one minute it's freezing and everything you do requires a coat and then the next day it's 45 degrees and you barely need a jacket. Oh- I guess I should tell you, if you're not from the Midwest that 45 degrees actually feels nice after -3!

This vest is super old but it goes with everything! I don't normally wear vests, this is literally the only one I own so it was important that the piece I invested in was timeless! And how adorable are this Tretorn sneakers? It's a Swedish brand and I absolutely adore these shoes, they are beyond comfortable and if you're like me in that you love following trends but want to put your own spin on it then these are a great way to play on the all white sneakers trend but not Adidas Stan Smith's.

:: Beach Bags Essentials ::

Beach and/or pool days are few and far between in the Midwest because the weather is so erratic but when I do get fortunate enough to have one I enjoy every last minute. Having a well rounded beach bag is important- who knows where the day might take you!!

::must have-giant bag, giant towel, good sunnies, good book, GOOD SPF, sea salt spray, adorable suit, & an apres beach outfit::

::top/aerie, bottoms/kohl's, sea salt spray/not your mother's, spf/neutrogena beach defense, book/lauren conrad::

::wet bikini bag/boston store {old-similar} (such a life saver!)::

::sarong/h&m, towel/coach {old-similar}, sunnies/chanel, beach bag/target {old-similar}::

::bronzer & mascara/cargo, lipgloss/revlon, deodorant/dove clinical protection::

shorts- jcrew
tank-aerie

It's important to have a little something to clean yourself up once the sun starts going down because in my experience that doesn't mean the fun is over. My friends and I usually go straight from the beach to dinner & drinks so it's important I have at least sea salt spray to give my hair the right texture (fresh water lakes & pools just don't do it) and mascara and some bronzer to wake up my face!

We all know I have an affinity for Lauren Conrad and her books are great beach day reads but have you read this article she posted about SPF? It is a must read before any day out in the sun for a better understanding of exactly how to use and apply SPF for maximum protection.

:: Geode ::

As a child I was obsessed with collecting rocks, so much so that my parents claimed to have found me as a baby underneath one. Kind of messed up, right? It only felt right that I would love this sweatshirt from Zara and style it so its the focal point of the outfit.
